The embed above is our live streaming 24/7 TV channel, RetroStrange TV. You can watch it any time, free, at live.retrostrange.com. RSTV currently shows a curated selection of public domain films from RetroStrange Movie Night, and the RetroStrange Safety Squad Archives. Movie Nights will be broadcast on RetroStrange TV, and simulcast on Twitch.
RetroStrange Movie Night #22 will feature two OTD (other-than-dracula) vampire movies: Dead Men Walk (1943), and Grave of the Vampire (1972).
Join us this Saturday at 7pm Pacific time for these. Do not bring your kids.
Howdy, Strangers! Thanks to all of you who joined us for Italian Space Opera night on Movie Night last night. It was a good one. We got up to 10 viewers at one point which is pretty good for our goofy little show.
Next episode we’ll be going back to Tokusatsu territory (see Episode 16 – ED) with American dubs of the second Gamera film Gamera .vs. Barugon (1966), and the giant monster revenge tale Majin the Monster of Terror (1966). These two were originally shown as a double-feature in the states back in 1966.
You can blame Sandy Frank for Gamera and American International Pictures for Majin. We hope to see you there.
Howdy, Strangers. Thanks to all of you who showed up for last weekend’s Bruceploitation fest, and a big shout-out to RSMN regulars Joel and Hannah.
Next time, on the 6th of March 2021, we’ll be watching a pair of Italian Space Operas, War of the Robots (aka Reactor) and Star Odyssey (aka Space Odyssey, Metallica, Captive Planet). They’re 2 of a 4-part series of shameless cash grabs by Alfonso Brescia, who tried to Allan Smithee himself by using a pseudonym, but people figured it out.
The next Movie Night is on February 20th, 2021 and will feature a pair of Bruceploitation features.
The Real Bruce Lee (1973), also known as Last Fist of Fury, stars Dragon Lee (credited as “Bruce Lei”) and is a take-off on First of Fury (1972) in which Japan has invaded China and Mr. Lee fights against his foreign oppressors.
Bruce Lee Fights Back From The Grave (1976), also released as Visitor of America, stars Jun Chong (founder, World United Martial Arts Organization) and despite the title only features a single scene about Bruce Lee coming back from the grave. The rest of the plot revolves around a Korean fellow traveling to America to rescue his brother from some criminals.
We hope you’ll join us! As usual, we’ll start at 6:30pm with some safety videos. See you then!
Shout-out to the website Clones of Bruce Lee, an indispensable resource while researching these films.
Howdy strangers, I’m producing this week’s show (it’s been a long week) as I type this. We hope you’ll join us for Movie Night #18 at 7pm Pacific! We’ll start off with All the Kind Strangers (aka Evil in the Swamp), have a short (curated) 15 min intermission and end with Werewolf of Washington. If people are still hanging out we’ll take requests and play some more junk until we get tired.
Our Twitch chat has been augmented by the addition of two new emojis, joining the Dick Miller emoji and making a set of three are The Lady (from The Doughnuts) which can be used with extraf8-lady and Edward Everett Horton who can be summoned with extraf8-eeh. They look like this:
See you tonight!
I’ve been making some updates to our previously kinda-of empty YouTube channel. You can now watch a bunch of previously-watched public domain gems such as Horror Express, A Bucket of Blood, The Terror and Invaders from Space. We’ll be adding more as time and energy allow.
I’ve also gone back and updated the event pages for Movie Night #1 and Movie Night #2 to include these movies as embedded videos, too. You can expect the archives to expand this weekend while we put some elbow grease into it.
Starting with the next Movie Night you’ll be able to get go-live notifications, sneak previews, and other surprises from the (infrequent) RetroStrange Newsletter. We’ll never sell your data or spam you with bullshit.
RetroStrange Movie Night #17 was a rousing success, thanks to everyone who came the during out 6-hour live stream. We learned a lot about eye safety, gushed over the amazing 1933 Alice in Wonderland, and stumbled our way through Abbot and Costello’s Jack and the Beanstalk. You can view just my intro on the revamped Youtube channel.
For movie night 18, we’re going back to basics- Schlocky 1970s Horror. We’ll be watching The Werewolf of Washington, starring world’s greatest eyebrow actor Dean Stockwell, and All the Kind Strangers aka Evil in the Swamp (way better alternate title), a Stacy Keach made-for-TV movie about kids who kidnap adults and try to force them to be their new parents. Light viewing. You can sign up to be reminded on the Facebook event page.
We’re sticking with the 7pm PST start time, but we might do an early show for the benefit of our friends who got to bed early. We’ll see you there at the usual place, https://twitch.tv/extrafuture
Update: It went great! We watched a lot of animation, stop motion, and a couple of features. You can see the intro on YouTube:

Next Saturday, January 23rd we’re throwing a RetroStrange birthday party for our friend Sandra Wirick. In honor, we’ve turned over the subject selection to her. This episode will be all fairy tales and cartoons from around the world- expect it to get weird.
Join us for the stream on Twitch, and for fun times in the Extra Future Discord server as per usual.
