RetroStrange Movie Night returns on May 21st with a comedy duo for the ages: Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton! Our start time is 5:00pm, where we’ll show some new short subjects during the 15 minute pre-show, then Chaplin will dazzle you in The Gold Rush (1925). We’ll have a 30-minute intermission between, then Keaton stars in Sherlock Jr. (1924).
Starting at 5:00pm Pacific we’ll whet your whistle with 30 minutes of goofy fun shorts, and then get real (silly) with Marihuana: Assassin of Youth, a 1937 anti-weed propaganda film. We’ll keep the party going after with an hour of shorts and cartoons, then our main event: The grand-daddy anti-drug propaganda of ’em all, Reefer Madness. Then, to send you off to slumber with a smile on your face 4 back to back to back to back showings of The Doughnuts.
The RetroStrange 4/20 Marathon is 2 classic propaganda features, and a dozen tripped-out cartoons and shorts that pair well with getting your smoke on.
Teenagers from Outer Space is the next movie night feature, March 19th.
The next Movie Night is this weekend! Tune in for two showings of Teenagers from Outer Space: 1st at 7:00pm Eastern and again at 7pm Pacific. Watch along on RetroStrange.TV.
The next RetroStrange Movie Night is Saturday, February 26th! Our feature will be The Screaming Skull (1958). You may remember this film from Season 9 of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Most movie nights have been double features, but we’ll be doing things a little differently this time. Instead of two movies starting a bit too early on the west coast and a bit too late on the east coast, we are having TWO shows in the same day to accommodate our viewers in multiple time zones: 7pm EST and then again at 7pm PST.
The next RetroStrange Movie Night is January 20th, 2022 at 7pm EST.
RetroStrange Movie Night goes On Location to the Niles Brewing Company for their tap turnover! We’ll be showing one of our favorites, Horror Express aka Panic on the Trans-Siberian. Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Telly Savalas star in this vaguely-sciencey horror yarn set aboard a train across Siberia.
RetroStrange t-shirts, patches, and stickers will be available from the merch stand. Hit up Noah or Chuck to get yours!
RetroStrange Movie Night returns to Niles, MI on December 21st
Happy holidays as we godless heathens say. The next RetroStrange Movie Night: On Location is December 21st, 2021, and will be coming to you live from the Niles Brewing Company in downtown Niles, MI.
This time we’re going all-in on the jolly fat man, Santa Claus, with a dynamic duo of festive features: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and Santa Claus Vs The Devil.
If you’ve never seen the Mexican-produced Santa Claus .vs. The Devil you are in for a real treat. Wikipedia:
On December 24, Santa prepares for his yearly journey at his Toyland castle in space. He plays the organ while his children helpers from all over the world sing. Meanwhile, in Hell, Lucifer instructs his chief demon Pitch to travel to Earth and turn the children of the world against Santa (or else he will, as punishment, eat chocolate ice cream).
We’ll be showing the slightly edited for the US version, simply called Santa Claus. Both of these features will be added to RetroStrange TV for the holiday season then taken down and put back into The RSTV Vault on January 3rd.
As we did last year, RetroStrange has reserved the weekend following US Thanksgiving to shine a light on the video content we don’t normally get to feature. Industrial shorts with odd durations, documentaries from Canada, you know the drill.
This year we’re adding a new series to RetroStrange TV with a special marathon later in the day. What will it be? You’ll just have to tune in and see.
