A promotional poster for movie night. It is 16:9 formatted with the original poster for D.O.A. on the right side of the image, and a short description on the left. It reads: "Frank Bigelow (Edmond O'Brien) is about to die, and he knows it. The accountant has been poisoned and has only 24 hours before the lethal concoction kills him."

The next RetroStrange Movie Night is on November 23rd, 2021. We’ll be watching the film noir classic D.O.A. starring Edmond O’Brien and Pamela Britton.

RetroStrange Movie Night #21: Tokusatsu Returns w/ Gamera .vs. Barugon (1966) and Majin The Monster of Terror (1966)

The next movie night is 20 March 2021.

Howdy, Strangers! Thanks to all of you who joined us for Italian Space Opera night on Movie Night last night. It was a good one. We got up to 10 viewers at one point which is pretty good for our goofy little show.

Next episode we’ll be going back to Tokusatsu territory (see Episode 16 – ED) with American dubs of the second Gamera film Gamera .vs. Barugon (1966), and the giant monster revenge tale Majin the Monster of Terror (1966). These two were originally shown as a double-feature in the states back in 1966.

You can blame Sandy Frank for Gamera and American International Pictures for Majin. We hope to see you there.

RetroStrange Movie Night #20: War of the Robots (1978), Star Odyssey (1979)

Poster for RetroStrange Movie Night #20

Howdy, Strangers. Thanks to all of you who showed up for last weekend’s Bruceploitation fest, and a big shout-out to RSMN regulars Joel and Hannah.

Next time, on the 6th of March 2021, we’ll be watching a pair of Italian Space Operas, War of the Robots (aka Reactor) and Star Odyssey (aka Space OdysseyMetallicaCaptive Planet). They’re 2 of a 4-part series of shameless cash grabs by Alfonso Brescia, who tried to Allan Smithee himself by using a pseudonym, but people figured it out.

We hope to see you there, same Bat time, same Bat channel.

YouTube Channel and Archive Updates

I’ve been making some updates to our previously kinda-of empty YouTube channel. You can now watch a bunch of previously-watched public domain gems such as Horror Express, A Bucket of Blood, The Terror and Invaders from Space. We’ll be adding more as time and energy allow.

I’ve also gone back and updated the event pages for Movie Night #1 and Movie Night #2 to include these movies as embedded videos, too. You can expect the archives to expand this weekend while we put some elbow grease into it.

RetroStrange Movie Night #18: The Werewolf of Washington (1973), All the Kind Strangers (1974)

RetroStrange Movie Night #17 was a rousing success, thanks to everyone who came the during out 6-hour live stream. We learned a lot about eye safety, gushed over the amazing 1933 Alice in Wonderland, and stumbled our way through Abbot and Costello’s Jack and the Beanstalk. You can view just my intro on the revamped Youtube channel.

For movie night 18, we’re going back to basics- Schlocky 1970s Horror. We’ll be watching The Werewolf of Washington, starring world’s greatest eyebrow actor Dean Stockwell, and All the Kind Strangers aka Evil in the Swamp (way better alternate title), a Stacy Keach made-for-TV movie about kids who kidnap adults and try to force them to be their new parents. Light viewing. You can sign up to be reminded on the Facebook event page.

We’re sticking with the 7pm PST start time, but we might do an early show for the benefit of our friends who got to bed early. We’ll see you there at the usual place, https://twitch.tv/extrafuture

Movie Night #16: Prince of Space, Captain Z-Ro (Eps 1 & 2)

Preview posters for Prince of Space and Captain Z-Ro

Event Links: Facebook Event PageEventbrite Page

Movie Night #16 premiers on January 9th and is an all sci-fi extravaganza. We’ll be watching Prince of Space, which is really two Planet Prince tokusatsu films edited together for American audiences, and the first two episodes of Captain Z-Ro (wikipedia), the coulda-been American Doctor Who.

This time we’re using Eventbrite for virtual ticketing- but don’t worry, Movie Night is and will always remain free.

NOTE: For the first time, Movie Night will begin at 8:00pm instead of our previous start time of 5:30pm Pacific.
